PROCEDURE FOLLOWING AN ACCIDENT
- Ensure NO FURTHER RISK to yourself, casualty or others.
- Attend to injured person/persons immediately – whether this by the site first aider or by emergency services.
- Notify the Site Agent as soon as the casualty is being assisted, followed by Titan’s Contract Manager, who will attend site ASAP.
- Following this, the Accident Book must be filled out (you can find this in the site file) with all requested information. If you are able to take photos of the incident this may be helpful in reducing/removing future risk.
- It is requested that nobody leaves site following an accident unless it is to have injuries attended to, until a full report is completed or full contact details are obtained.
Once the Titan Drylining Manager/Supervisor is on site a decision will be made if the accident is notifiable to the HSE under RIDDOR guidelines. If assistance is needed with this decision, contact Titan’s Health & Safety Advisers (Number can be found below).
If an accident is notifiable under RIDDOR then Titan Drylining’s Manager/Supervisor is to work with Titan’s H&S advisor as soon as possible, so that a qualified advisor can attend site immediately and the correct procedures can be followed.
Whether the accident is notifiable or not, Titan Drylining’s Manager/Supervisor must prepare a full accident report. The area is to be zoned off while this is completed and until the area is deemed safe to continue work. The Accident Report will contain similar information as the Accident Book that was completed in the first instance, but will collate further information, such as interviewing witnesses and any photos they may have taken, any additional photos, facts, relevant to the incident. Titan’s Manager/Supervisor will consult with the main contractor and include their statements in the report.
The directors of Titan Drylining will review the accident book and the report and consider implementing further risk control measures. In addition to these measures, further Health and Safety training needs to be completed; whether this be Toolbox talks or third party training.
